Troops Rescue 10 Abducted NECO Candidates, Teachers After ISWAP Attack on Borno School

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers who were abducted by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during an attack on a secondary school in Borno State.

PulseNets learnt from security sources that the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday when armed insurgents stormed the Technical Secondary School in Lassa Community, located in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, while students were sitting for their NECO examination.

The attackers reportedly whisked away several examination candidates and members of staff before fleeing into nearby bushes.

Security sources, who spoke to PulseNets, disclosed that troops of Operation Hadin Kai swiftly launched a rescue mission following the attack, leading to the successful recovery of 10 of the kidnapped victims.

PulseNets further obtained that security operatives have continued search and rescue operations to locate any remaining abductees, with military activities ongoing across the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further attacks.
