Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, a development that has continued to generate strong political interest across the country.

The meeting took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) and brought together the PDP National Chairman, Taminu Turaki, former governors, and other influential figures within the party.

Turaki arrived at the OOPL at exactly 11:27 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, accompanied by a high-powered delegation comprising executive members of his faction of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC).

Among those present were former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, and former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja, alongside several other senior party stakeholders.

The delegation was received by the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Abayomi Tella, and other party leaders in the state before proceeding into the meeting.

Although details of the discussions were not disclosed, the gathering has sparked widespread political interest due to the timing and the prominence of the personalities involved. Political observers believe the meeting is closely linked to recent developments within the PDP, including internal pressures, leadership concerns, and ongoing strategic realignments ahead of future political contests.
