Two weeks to tenure expiration, Obiano, wife meet Buhari behind closed-doors

Two weeks to the end of his tenure, Governor Willie Obiano, on Wednesday, held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock.

The meeting has set tongues wagging, as social media users have been trying to speculate over the possible reason.

Some social media users said it may not be unconnected to the placing of the governor on watchlist by anti-graft agencies.

Recall that Obiano had previously announced that he would be going to the US to rest after his tenure as governor.

Obiano lived in the US, after his retirement with Texaco as a Chartered accountant, before he was called back home to serve as governor.

Last year, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had placed Obiano on its watchlist, alleging that he had questions to answer, and may possibly try to leave the country.

Incidentally, as at the time of the declaration, Obiano was overseas, and there were insinuations that he may never return home, but he returned to the country and called the bluff of those who were making insinuations about his attempt to escape.

Obiano told journalists that he had no question to answer, and more so, no reason to want to flee the country.

He reminded those who wanted to intimidate him that he was still the governor, and still had his immunity intact.
