US Judge Gives Trump-Appointed Attorney Four More Days to Release Tinubu Drug-Trafficking Records

A United States District Judge, Beryl Howell, has granted Donald Trump-appointed attorney Jeanine Pirro four additional days to release records relating to alleged drug-trafficking activities involving Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu.

The development was disclosed by Dr Von Batten-Montague-York in a post on X, where he said Judge Howell noted that the case had remained pending for more than three years.

It was learnt that Pirro had earlier sought an additional 10 days to comply with the court’s order concerning records held by the United States Department of Justice, DOJ, Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA.

However, Judge Howell granted only four additional days, setting August 21, 2026, as the deadline for compliance.

Von Batten-Montague-York said the decision represents a renewed effort by Pirro and the Department of Justice to release the records, arguing that the documents should now be made public.

“We deeply appreciate US Attorney Pirro and the DOJ’s renewed motivation to release these documents, and we agree with Judge Howell. This case has been pending for three years. The time to release the Tinubu drug-trafficking files is now,” he wrote.

He further argued that the United States’ strategic interests and relationship with Nigeria should not prevent the release of the records.

“As President Trump has indicated, our shared interests with Nigeria do not mean supporting an alleged drug trafficker,” he added.

The latest development places renewed attention on the records reportedly being sought from the DOJ, FBI and DEA and the court’s order requiring compliance by August 21, 2026.

PulseNets reported that the matter has continued to attract attention because of the nature of the records being sought and the prolonged legal proceedings surrounding their release.
