War, not elections, occurred in Lagos — LP's Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Labour Party candidate for the just completed governorship election in Lagos State, has claimed that what took place in the state was a battle, not an election.

On Friday, Rhodes-Vivour stated on Arise Television’s morning show that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) accountability needed to increase during the election’s conduct.

Rhodes-Vivour said, “What happened in Lagos was a war on Lagosians no matter how they want to colour it or module the waters.

“In Ikoyi, there were Yoruba people who were beaten and affected by thugs and hooligans that came into the place.

“Look at what happened VCG as well and the complicity of INEC as well in this process need to be taken up so that If they want to try anything next time they would do things differently, give a perception of equity, fairness and justice, not these brazing rip over democracy in Lagos State.”

The All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was declared the winner of the Lagos gubernatorial election by the INEC in March.

Sanwo-Olu got 762,134 votes in total, defeating Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who got 312,329 votes, and Abdulazeez Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who got 62,449 votes.
