Wike-Backed PDP Faction Denies Support for Tinubu, Vows to Field Candidate for 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with Nyesom Wike has firmly denied claims suggesting it is backing Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This clarification was made by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, during an appearance on Morning Brief on Channels Television, where he addressed growing speculation surrounding the party’s political direction.

Jungudo Mohammed told PulseNets that the PDP remains committed to presenting its own presidential candidate, dismissing narratives linking the party to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are not supporting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027 general election. We will do everything to field own candidate.

“And I am appealing to Nigerians to please give us little time between now and the time we will conduct our primaries.

“All these rumours about we are supporting APC or appendage of the APC will come to pass.

“Time will take care of all these rumours and propaganda. It is aimed at either discrediting the PDP or discrediting the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike,” he said.

PulseNets learnt that the remarks come amid persistent allegations that the Wike-backed bloc within the PDP is covertly aligned with the ruling party, a claim the faction continues to reject.

The spokesperson further maintained that such narratives are politically motivated, stressing that they are designed to undermine both the PDP’s credibility and the standing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
