Alhaji Musa Arungo, the chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna state’s Lere Local Government Area, called on the federal and state governments on Wednesday to provide appropriate security in the state’s 23 Local Government areas.
In his opinion, the campaign has clearly taken over the state in the few weeks before the presidential election on February 25, 2023, with increased security presence in most localities, local governments, and even rural villages.
He pointed out that because Kaduna is in the middle of the north, the state should have adequate security measures in place before, during, and after elections.
”By now, the people should be able to see some security personnel patrolling the street to scare criminals and those with evil intention. That will frightened them and discourage them from planning evil during election” he said
Musa Arungo noted that with four weeks until the election, the security ought to have been posted to a specific community or village to study the nature of that place. He was curious as to how security agencies would be used to a particular community or local government during the election as they had not been there before.
