To ensure peaceful general elections in 2023, the Kaduna State Police Command has issued warnings to all political parties and their candidates to strictly adhere by the Electoral Act.

Parents and guardians were also admonished by the Command not to allow their children to be utilized as thugs or troublemakers prior to, during, or after the elections.

The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Yekini Adio Ayoku, spoke to Executive members of the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) who paid the Command a courtesy call and assured them that there would be watertight security at the polls to ensure that the election would go off without a hitch in all areas of the State and the nation.

Ayoku expressed satisfaction with the State’s media, noting that since taking office, there haven’t been any negative stories about his Command.

As Kaduna State’s 40th police commissioner, he began his duties in April.

We pledge to provide the State with top-notch security for the general election in 2023, he declared. So that the election runs well, we’ll enforce strict security.

The police commissioner urged journalists to oppose terrorist propaganda by not using it in their headlines, pointing out that they had a crucial position in the defense of the entire nation.

Since he took office in the State, the Command, according to Ayoku, has made numerous arrests and retrieved weapons and ammunition from criminal elements.

He stated that the Command was making every effort to restore Kaduna state to its former status as the national pride.

The NUJ Chairman, Hajiya Asma’u Halilu, advised the Police Commissioner that better communication between the Union and the Police Command was required in order to provide journalists with timely information.
