30 Passengers Burnt to Death in Ondo Auto Crash

Thirty passengers were burnt to death in a fatal auto crash in the Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday when two commercial buses collided head-on and erupted in flames at the Onipetesi axis along the Ore/Lagos Expressway.

According to reports, 32 passengers were involved in the crash, with 28 burnt beyond recognition. Two survivors, who were rescued with severe injuries, succumbed before reaching the hospital. Meanwhile, two others are currently receiving medical attention.

Sources told PulseNets that excessive speeding by the drivers led to the accident.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Samuel Ibitoye, stated that preliminary investigations indicated that one of the vehicles was driving against traffic.

Ibitoye, who spoke to PulseNets, urged drivers to be cautious, maintain their vehicles properly, and avoid reckless driving. He also encouraged passengers to speak out against unsafe driving practices, stressing that road safety is a collective responsibility.
