Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate, was not present when other presidential contenders signed a peace agreement on Thursday ahead of the 2023 elections. Kashim Shettima, who is Tinubu’s running mate and is now in London, served as his representative.

2. Yesterday, the adoration ministry of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka was allowed to resume operations by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. The contentious priest revealed the situation in a statement on Thursday.

3. Following the Supreme Court decision that favoured Ademola Adeleke as the party’s candidate in the gubernatorial primary election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State removed Dotun Babayemi. Babayemi attempted to reverse Adeleke’s victory in the PDP’s gubernatorial primaries.

4. About 50 other attorneys, including three prominent EFCC attorneys and nine law professors, were named on Thursday to get the prestigious Senior Advocates of Nigeria designation (SANs). The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), which is presided over by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, will honour them.

5. On Thursday, the House of Representatives wrapped up its talks with stakeholders over the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, announcing that President Muhammadu Buhari will soon be presented with its recommendations.

6. On Thursday, Usman Baba, the inspector general of police, declared that the force will not abandon the community policing system provisions already in place to quell various crimes at the local level. At the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) forum’s 11th anniversary in Abuja, the police head made this statement.

7. No less than four PDP National Working Committee members have returned the N122.4 million that the leader of the main opposition party had deposited into their accounts. 8. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has commanded the immediate suspension of all RTEAN (Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria) activities in the State. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, made the announcement on Thursday. He said that recent pockets of violence in Ojo and Lagos Island made the suspension necessary.

9. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have argued that Nnamdi Kanu’s extradition was unlawful and that no Nigerian court has the authority to trial him. In a statement released yesterday, the group’s spokeswoman, Emma Powerful, claimed that by allegedly supporting Kanu’s rendition, the Nigerian court had broken both domestic and international law.

10. The House of Representatives leadership announced yesterday that they would request a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss how to end the current dispute between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house, mentioned this while speaking with stakeholders on Thursday.
