Applicants for passports are cautioned by NIS to be wary of touts posing as authorities

Nigeria Immigration approves more passport offices in Lagos

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a warning to the general public, particularly those looking to apply for overseas passports, to be aware of the actions of touts posing as authorities.

This was said during the Command’s End-of-Year celebration and award ceremony on Saturday in Owerri by Mr. Cyril Alaje, the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration and Passport Control Officer for the command.

He gave the people of Imo his word that the Command will keep up its commitment to provide top-notch customer service while meeting all of its primary objectives.

NIS Comptroller in Imo, Mrs. Nkechi Ezugwu, stated that the honour was a call to better service while recognising exceptional officers in the state. She said that they were deemed deserving of the awards following a “rigorous screening process.”

She expressed gratitude to the Federal Controller of Works in the state, Mr. Dania Dennis, the NIS Comptroller-General, Mr. Isah Idris, officers, and members of the NIS in Imo for supporting the Command’s operations in their various roles.

She also expressed gratitude to the heads of federal establishments in the state, including the sister security organisations, for their unwavering support and cooperative efforts, which enabled the Command to achieve success in 2022.

Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the state governor, received her sincere thanks for allowing the Command’s Headquarters’ move to a new location. She also expressed her trust that the required legal paperwork to support the move would be processed quickly.
