Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a reliable source inside the APC campaign team, said that talks are still in progress despite widespread rumours that the G-5 Governors had reached an agreement to back the party’s presidential candidate.
Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the G-5 Governors reportedly spoke in London on the 2023 presidency. The conclusion of the meeting has been the subject of rumours in many places.
The source claimed in a phone chat with PulseNets on Friday that Tinubu’s agreement with the governors is subject to additional discussions with the APC’s party structures in the states of Rivers, Benue, Abia, Enugu, and Oyo.
“Yes, a deal has been reached; however, negotiations are still going on; we have a formidable structure in all these states(Benue, Rivers, Oyo, Abia, Enugu), so we have to go back and consult this with structures. You know Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an experienced Politician; he wants to do further consultation on the matter”, the source stated.
The G-5 governors are Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
