FEMA reveals cause of fire at Canadian Embassy

The Canadian High Commission in Nigeria says its investigative team and relevant Nigerian authorities are still probing the November 6 fire incident at its Abuja office.

The fire incident happened in the commission’s generator house due to a diesel explosion.

Two people died during the incident while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The commission subsequently suspended its operations except for the visa application centres which remained open in Abuja and Lagos.

The high commission later announced the arrival of its technical team in Nigeria to probe the incident.

The spokesperson, Damilade Kosemani, in a statement on Monday, said the team was still investigating the matter.

“The investigation by the Canadian investigation team to determine the cause of the incident is ongoing,” Kosemani said.
