Donald Trump wins Nevada, Virgin Islands, inches closer to Republican nomination

PulseNets learnt on Sunday that former US President Donald Trump narrowly survived what appears to be another assassination attempt on his life. This incident comes less than two months after Trump was grazed by a bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July.

According to an official statement from Trump’s campaign team, gunshots were heard near the former president’s location at Palm Beach Golf Club, Florida.

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No additional details are available at this time,” a Spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, told PulseNets in a brief statement.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), speaking to PulseNets, said it “is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination” targeting the former president.

A security source reported to PulseNets that “A person has been detained after an incident at Trump’s golf club, and officials believe the intention was to target the former U.S. president.”

The US Secret Service confirmed to PulseNets that the shooter has been apprehended and is currently in custody.

“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe. @pbso will have more details soon,” Anthony Guglielmi, spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, told PulseNets.

This latest incident at Palm Beach Golf Club marks the second attempt on Trump’s life. The first occurred in July, when a 20-year-old named Matthew Crooks fired a shot during a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump’s ear was grazed by the bullet, which tragically killed rally attendee Corey Comperatore and injured two others before Secret Service agents managed to subdue the assailant.
