The commencement ceremony, spearheaded by the World Agritourism Organisation (WAO), was held at Golden Tulip Onopa Hotel in Yenagoa, with top government officials, community leaders, and dignitaries in attendance.

Representatives of Governor Douye Diri, alongside stakeholders, joined traditional rulers and youth leaders to witness the start of this transformative initiative. Delivering the keynote address, Prince Akinloye Ogunmodede, Chief Security Officer of WAO, emphasized the immense potential of agritourism in driving Nigeria’s economic growth. “Agritourism has the power to connect tourists with our agricultural heritage while creating sustainable opportunities for farmers and rural communities,” he stated. Ogunmodede also called for investments in infrastructure to support the project, highlighting the need for better road networks and storage facilities for farmers.
