BREAKING: President Trump to Award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom
Washington — President Donald Trump has announced that Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, will be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
Trump made the announcement during a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon, describing Kirk as “a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty, and an inspiration to millions of people.”
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on September 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University. His death has sparked nationwide mourning, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, supporters, and critics alike.
The White House has not yet released the date of the award ceremony, but Trump confirmed that plans are underway and that “a very big crowd” will be present.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded to individuals who have made “especially meritorious contributions” to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural achievements, or other significant public endeavors.
