DSS Dismisses 115 Officers in Sweeping Internal Reform, Publishes Names Online

The Department of State Services (DSS) has terminated the appointments of 115 personnel as part of a sweeping internal reform aimed at restoring professionalism and integrity within the agency, PulseNets learnt.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, the mass dismissal forms part of ongoing efforts by the nation’s secret police to weed out unwholesome elements and strengthen institutional discipline across its ranks.

While the agency refrained from stating detailed reasons for the dismissals, insiders told PulseNets that the affected personnel were allegedly found guilty of various infractions considered “incompatible with the service’s ethics and integrity.”

In an official statement shared on its verified X handle Tuesday night, the agency disclosed:

“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period.”

The DSS further clarified that the disciplinary action followed earlier public disclaimers involving two ex-officers—Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin—accused of impersonating operatives to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

The agency stressed:

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel.”

Security sources spoke to PulseNets, revealing that some of the dismissed operatives had continued presenting themselves as active officers of the agency to unsuspecting members of the public, prompting the agency to issue a fresh warning.

The Service cautioned citizens against engaging or transacting with anyone claiming to represent the DSS without proper verification.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the statement emphasized.

In a bid to promote transparency and public accountability, PulseNets learnt that the DSS published the names of all 115 dismissed officers on its official website, encouraging Nigerians to verify through the portal: dss.gov.ng/media/more/4.
