Omah Lay Reacts to First Grammy Nomination, Champions Davido for Victory
Nigerian music sensation, Stanley Omah Didia, widely known as Omah Lay, has expressed his reaction to his first-ever Grammy nomination.
PulseNets learnt that the singer secured the nomination for his collaborative track with Davido, “With You,” which has been shortlisted in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th annual Grammy Awards.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Omah Lay spoke to PulseNets about his excitement, while also revealing that awards themselves are not his priority.
He, however, emphasised his desire for Davido to take home the award, calling him a steadfast friend.
“I’m genuinely hyped about this Grammy nomination haha but honestly, awards don’t mean much to me. I really want it for OBO! He’s been the realest friend, always there for me during my toughest moments,” Omah Lay told PulseNets.
PulseNets also obtained that Davido, despite earning four previous Grammy nominations—including two for Best African Music Performance—has yet to win the prestigious award. He has been a consistent contender in the category since its inception in 2023.
