American rap icon Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has added her voice to the mounting global condemnation of escalating attacks by insurgents and armed bandits across northern Nigeria. Her comments come at a time when international attention on Nigeria’s security crisis is intensifying.

Minaj delivered her remarks as a keynote speaker at a United States Mission to the United Nations conference themed “Combating Religious Violence and the Killing of Christians in Nigeria.” PulseNets learnt that the multi-award-winning artist used the platform to emphasize that no community should ever be targeted because of their religious identity.

Amid growing global appeals for urgent intervention, she underscored that her advocacy is rooted in unity and justice rather than partisanship.

“Let me make this absolutely clear—this is not about choosing sides. It’s about refusing to stay silent when injustice is staring us in the face. This is what I’ve always believed in,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for amplifying the issue on the world stage.
According to her,

“I appreciate President Trump for drawing global attention to this crisis and for calling for decisive action to protect Christians in Nigeria, confront extremism, and halt violence against people whose only demand is the freedom to practice their faith.”

PulseNets obtained that Trump had, just weeks before Minaj’s remarks, raised strong concerns over what he described as widespread killings of Christians in Nigeria, urging Nigerian authorities to respond with urgency. He later designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and cautioned that continued attacks could trigger further consequences, including potential military measures.
