Peter Obi Confirms 2027 Presidential Bid, Rules Out Vice-Presidential Ambition

The 2023 Labour Party presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, has confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 general election, putting to rest growing speculation about his political future.

The former Anambra State governor made the declaration during an X Spaces engagement on Sunday night, where he categorically dismissed suggestions that he might settle for a vice-presidential slot in the next election cycle. PulseNets learnt that Obi used the platform to clarify his stance to supporters across the country and in the diaspora.

Speaking during the interactive session, Obi said his years of exposure to governance, private sector leadership, and global best practices were not acquired for the purpose of occupying a secondary role in government. He maintained that Nigeria’s current challenges require decisive leadership at the highest level.

“I am not going round the world, learning and studying governance, only to return and become a vice president,” Obi said.

He further expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the country, citing his entrepreneurial background and public service record as key strengths. According to him, these experiences distinguish him from other contenders, including the incumbent administration.

“I understand what it takes to fix Nigeria. I built my businesses from the ground up, and I bring more hands-on experience than anyone else in the race, including the current President,” he added.

“Let me be clear: Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. What I ask for is your support and your prayers as we move forward,” he said.
