95 Princes, Princesses Seek Awujale Stool as Fusengbuwa Ruling House Begins Nomination Process
A total of 95 princes and princesses from the Fusengbuwa Ruling House have formally indicated interest in ascending the revered Awujale of Ijebuland stool, PulseNets learnt.
The disclosure was made by the Olori Ebi of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Lateef Owoyemi, during the opening of a nomination meeting held at Bisi Rodipe Hall, GRA, Ijebu Ode. Owoyemi, who is also addressed as Otunba Jadiara, spoke at the gathering attended by key stakeholders of the ruling house.
PulseNets reported that several leaders of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House were present at the meeting, including the Deputy Olori Ebi, Otunba Ajidagba, as well as the Chairman, Chief Fassy Yusuf, among other notable figures.
Addressing participants, Otunba Owoyemi explained that the nomination process would be strictly guided by established tradition and procedure. He told PulseNets that only candidates who successfully scale the initial screening stage would move forward.
“The names of those who meet the required conditions and scale the first hurdle will be forwarded to the Afobajes for further consideration,” Owoyemi said.
PulseNets obtained that the next phase of the selection would rest with the Afobajes, who are constitutionally empowered to deliberate and choose one candidate from the submitted list.
“The Afobajes will select one qualified candidate as the next Awujale of Ijebuland and forward the name to the Ogun State Government for approval,” he added.
He further noted that the process remains open to scrutiny and lawful engagement, stressing that aggrieved parties are not shut out of seeking redress.
“Anyone who is dissatisfied with the exercise has the right to channel their grievances appropriately to the government,” Owoyemi stated.
