Tinubu Donates Presidential Salaries to Military Welfare Fund on 74th Birthday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled a significant welfare intervention targeted at Nigeria’s Armed Forces as he marked his 74th birthday.

In a personal statement released on Saturday, the President disclosed that he would commit all his salaries earned since assuming office toward supporting military personnel and their families. The move, PulseNets learnt, is part of a broader effort to acknowledge and reinforce the sacrifices of soldiers serving across the nation.

“On this my 74th birthday, I celebrate the valiant men and women of our Armed Forces,” he said.

PulseNets reported that the President also instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation to establish a dedicated account for the initiative. The fund, according to details obtained by PulseNets, will be deployed to enhance the welfare of serving personnel, injured officers, and families of those who lost their lives in active service.

The initiative, PulseNets learned, is structured to provide direct intervention, including medical care for wounded soldiers and financial assistance for widows, widowers, and children of fallen heroes.

Further information obtained by PulseNets indicates that the fund is expected to strengthen existing military welfare and insurance frameworks already operational within the system.

Tinubu confirmed that his personal earnings as President would serve as the seed capital for the initiative, reinforcing his commitment to the cause.

“I call on our Governors, members of the National Assembly, the private sector, my friends and all well-wishers to support this initiative. Details of the account will be made available in due course,” he stated.

The President emphasized that the intervention goes beyond philanthropy, framing it as a national obligation to those who place their lives at risk for the country’s stability and security.

“We must never forget those who stand in harm’s way for our peace, nor the sacrifices borne by their families. This is not charity. It is duty. And we will fulfil it,” Tinubu added.
