Aisha Yesufu Loses FCT Senatorial Ticket as Amanda Pam Wins NDC Primary Ahead of 2027 Election

A major political upset has emerged ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections as prominent socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu failed to clinch the Federal Capital Territory senatorial ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The outspoken activist was defeated during the party’s recently concluded primary election by Barrister Amanda Pam, who secured victory after a closely contested exercise, PulseNets learned.

Pam reportedly leveraged her strong grassroots structure and longstanding loyalty within the party to edge out the co-founder of the “#BringBackOurGirls” and “#EndSARS” movements.

Findings obtained by PulseNets revealed that Pam’s deep political experience and long years in party administration played a decisive role in winning the confidence of delegates during the primary.

The legal practitioner previously served as the Deputy National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She also held office as Mandate Secretary for the Health and Human Services Secretariat in the FCT.

Party insiders who spoke to PulseNets noted that Pam’s established political network across the Federal Capital Territory gave her a strategic advantage over Yesufu, who recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC.

Before the primary election, Yesufu had embarked on an aggressive consultation campaign across several area councils in Abuja in a bid to mobilise support among party stakeholders and delegates.

During her engagements, the activist unveiled legislative proposals centred on security, healthcare, and education reforms, while promising stronger representation for residents of the nation’s capital.

With the outcome of the primary, Barrister Amanda Pam will now fly the flag of the NDC for the Abuja senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

She is expected to face a fierce contest against incumbent Senator Ireti Kingibe of the PDP and veteran politician Philip Aduda of the Labour Party (LP), PulseNets reported.
