The former speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, Onofiok Luke has decried the yawning gap between the haves and have-nots in the state.
He identified such existing gaps as the cause of distrust and disharmony between the political elites and the poor masses in the state.

He, however, admitted that the menace may not be addressed automatically stressing that it takes effective and people-oriented leaders to reinforce the foundation laid by the founding fathers and past leaders in the state.
According to him, “the widening gap between the privileged few and the underprivileged majority despite their faith, trust and commitment towards building the state of their dream is disheartening.
