ASUU reacts to Court ordering union to call off strike

Stop indecent dressings — ASUU tells varsity students

The National Industrial Court’s judgment ordering its members to cease the seven-month-old strike has been appealed, according to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has stated it is prepared to do so.

The union encouraged its members to maintain calm in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the chairman of the Lagos Zone.

The union claimed that its attorney had already started an appeal.

The following is an excerpt from the statement: “Our Comrade President, Comrade Victor Osodeke, has asked members of our Great Union to maintain calm as the back to work order delivered earlier today presents no cause for concern.

“Our lawyer is filing an appeal and stay of execution of the judgment. Members should remain resolute and strong. A people united can never be defeated. Solidarity without compromise.”
