BREAKING: Cubana Chief Priest Declares 2027 House of Reps Ambition Under APC, Says Move Will Help Free Nnamdi Kanu

Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has formally signalled his entry into partisan politics, declaring his intention to contest for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections, PulseNets has learnt.

The celebrity businessman, fondly called the Celebrity Barman, disclosed that he will be seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), aligning himself once again with the ruling party and the Imo State political establishment.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, Chief Priest said his decision is largely driven by the need to leverage federal political power to push for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Explaining why he chose to remain with the APC despite widespread anti-establishment sentiments in parts of the South-East, the socialite argued that opposition politics offers little room to influence critical executive actions at the national level.

“I no fit help Maazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been APC,” he said.
“My father, Governor Hope, don suffer for APC, I no fit abandon am. I am DG Renewed Hope.”

Chief Priest also addressed questions surrounding his political posture during the 2023 presidential election, where he was visibly associated with the Labour Party and its candidate, Peter Obi.

He clarified, in remarks told to PulseNets, that his involvement with the Obidient Movement occurred while he was officially serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, stressing that the move did not amount to a permanent defection.

However, he stated that his political alignment has now firmly returned to the centre, pledging loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership ahead of 2027.

“Last election, as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi. But this time, I dey with Asiwaju,” he added.

Speaking further, Cubana Chief Priest described his 2027 ambition as a calculated transition from online influence to hands-on governance, insisting that the South-East requires young, politically connected voices within the system to effectively negotiate and protect regional interests.

PulseNets reports that his declaration has already sparked conversations across political and social circles, with many viewing the move as a significant crossover from celebrity culture into Nigeria’s evolving legislative landscape.
