More information has come to light regarding the death of George Obiozor, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Obiozor’s death on December 26th was verified to PulseNets by a high-ranking Ohanaeze leader.
The chieftain, who desired to remain unnamed, told our journalist that Obiozor passed away from a cardiac condition.
But he said that the highest Igbo authority would hold off on announcing Obiozor’s passing until his family did.
“The man is dead but it’s not in our tradition to announce such death even when we have such information, we allow the family members to make such an announcement.
“He died on Monday of heart-related disease. I’m not specific about where he died but he travelled abroad and returned to Lagos.
“I was called in the early hours of December 26th that he died in the early hours,” the source said.
There have been rumours and stories suggesting that Obiozor had passed away.
Despite these rumours, Obiozor’s family has not yet made a death announcement.
