Breaking: Police deny reports that bombs were planted in Abuja

The idea that bombs have been hidden throughout Abuja has been disproved by the Nigeria Police Force.

On Saturday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations representative, released a statement.

The fact that some people were disseminating misleading information in the wake of the terror alert issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, and others was lamented by the FPRO.

According to Adejobi, those making the claim include alleged peace ambassadors and patriotic agents of Nigerian unity.

He claimed that spreading frightful rumours to further incite panic in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would be detrimental to the nation.

Adejobi maintains that Abuja is secure, there is no immediate danger, and the FCT is not overrun with bombs as has been suggested.

The police advised residents “to disregard this fake news which was purportedly sponsored to create fear in our people and heat up the polity”.

“We will continue to adopt all effective operational strategies to decimate the activities of non-state actors and other criminal elements in the country.”
