“Certificate of Site Ownership for Mass Transmission Antenna” is disowned by NCC

Through social listening and environmental surveillance, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has learned that some unidentified individuals are spreading a fraudulent letter titled “Certificate of Site Ownership” for clearance of “Mast Transmission Antenna” and claiming that it was issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

According to the false letter, the Commission had checked out a specific site for “9-Mobile Telecommunications Company G.P.R.S.”

The certificate would become valid and usable by “10th November 2022” if the conditions set forth by the con artists were satisfied by the unwary recipient of the letter.

The false letter may have been distributed in many forms to people and organisations with the intention of defrauding them while posing as the Commission.

Therefore, the Nigerian Communications Commission desires to distance itself from the significance and information included in this letter and any others like it that may have been distributed by the anonymous parties.

For the avoidance of doubt, the fabricated letterhead’s layout and design have nothing in common with those used by the Commission. The Commission does not have the department mentioned in the false letter. The Commission is also unaware who signed the letter.

The general public is officially informed that businesses that have been granted licences by the Commission provide telecommunications services.

The Commission also keeps a list of all the telecom firms operating in the nation. It suffices to say that the Commission and licensees have clear and defined norms and styles for initiating and exchanging letters.

Additionally, the Commission has very reliable and open channels of communication that may be used to verify any information regarding the organisation and its actions, including issues pertaining to communications on any topic.

While the Commission disapproves of the nefarious activities of these fraudsters, telecom stakeholders, the Nigerian public, and corporate organisations are urged to be vigilant against the cunning of many fraudsters who prowl the streets with a variety of bogus documents in order to avoid falling prey to their nefarious schemes.
