Charlie Kirk Assassination: US Warns Nigerians of Visa Revocations

The United States government has issued a stern warning to foreign nationals, including Nigerians, threatening to revoke their visas if they are found celebrating the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist fatally shot at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau, in a statement obtained by PulseNets from his post on X on Thursday, stressed that “foreigners who glorify violence are not welcome in the United States.” Landau further told PulseNets that he had directed consular offices to take immediate action against anyone caught praising or trivialising Kirk’s killing.

“I have been sickened to witness individuals on social media applauding, excusing or mocking this tragedy, and I have instructed our consular officials to move swiftly in revoking visas where appropriate,” Landau stated.

Citing the brutal shooting, Landau underscored the seriousness of the incident, remarking,

“In the wake of Wednesday’s appalling assassination of a prominent political voice, let it be clear that visitors who promote hatred or violence have no place in our country.” He also appealed for vigilance, adding, “Please report such comments from foreign nationals so the State Department can act to safeguard Americans.”
