Comfort Emmanson Sues FG, NCAA, Others Over Alleged Mistreatment, Demands N500 Billion in Damages”
Comfort Emmanson, an Ibom Air passenger who was allegedly forcibly removed from an aircraft on Sunday, August 10, has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and several other parties over alleged violations of her rights.
The legal action, marked FHC/L/CS/1632/25, was announced during a press briefing on Friday by public interest lawyer Ayodele Ademiluyi, who is representing Emmanson. The suit seeks N500 billion in damages for alleged breaches of aviation laws and wrongful treatment in two separate incidents—one involving Emmanson and Ibom Air, and another concerning Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) and ValueJet.
Lawyer Criticizes Ambassador Appointment, Minister’s Role
Ademiluyi condemned the appointment of Wasiu Ayinde Marshal as a brand ambassador in the aviation sector, stating that it undermines the industry’s integrity.
“If someone can stop a plane with their bare hands and be appointed a brand ambassador, it sends the wrong signal,” Ademiluyi argued.
He described the lawsuit as a public interest case, accusing Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo (SAN) of appearing to defend the airlines involved in both controversies.
“Political connections must not override the sanctity of the rule of law,” Ademiluyi warned, demanding appropriate sanctions against the musician for his alleged role in the ValueJet incident.
