Delta Police Launch Probe Into Alleged “Raping Festival” in Ozoro Community

The Nigeria Police Force has commenced a probe into allegations surrounding an alleged “raping festival” reported in Delta State.

This development was confirmed on Friday, March 20, as the Delta State Police Command reacted to a viral video circulating across social media platforms. The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed that authorities had taken immediate steps to investigate the disturbing claims.

PulseNets learnt that an X user, @teeniiola, had earlier shared footage purportedly showing activities linked to the alleged festival in the Ozoro community of Delta State.

According to the user, women in the affected area have reportedly been cautioned against leaving their homes due to fears of possible abuse.

Teni stated, “Many girls have reportedly been r@p£d and m0l£sted by men in Ozoro during what is being described as a “r@p!ng festival” in the area.”

She further wrote, “According to multiple reports and videos circulating online, today is said to be the day of this festival in the Ozoro community, and girls are warned not to go outside. It is alleged that any girl seen outside could be att@ck£d and r@p£d by groups of men.”

Raising further concerns, she added, “Foreigners who are unaware of this situation have reportedly fallen victim as well.”

Teni also noted, “There is Delta State University in Ozoro, and many female students may not be fully aware of the d@nger. It is disturbing that something like this could be tolerated in society. This is heartbreaking, and urgent action needs to be taken.”

Reacting to the viral claims, Edafe, quoting the post, said the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, had directed a full-scale investigation into the allegations.

“This is alarming, disgusting and embarrassing. The CP has ordered an investigation into the incident.”

PulseNets reported that the Command strongly condemned the alleged act, stressing that no cultural practice can override the fundamental rights and safety of citizens.

Authorities further appealed to residents of Delta State to remain calm while the investigation progresses, assuring that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
