The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has held its first major stakeholders’ meeting, marking an early strategic move to consolidate party unity and strengthen internal coordination ahead of the next general election.

PulseNets learnt that the meeting was conveyed under the leadership of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, who presided over the gathering aimed at charting a clear path for the party’s growth, cohesion, and electoral preparedness. The meeting attracted a large turnout of party leaders and members from across the state, a development described by attendees as a strong signal of renewed internal alignment.

Addressing stakeholders, the governor expressed satisfaction with the level of participation, noting that the turnout reflected a collective resolve to reposition the party. “The impressive attendance we witnessed today is a clear indication of a new beginning and a shared commitment to unity under my leadership,” he said.

PulseNets obtained by party sources that the meeting also served as a platform to formally announce a decision of the APC National Executive Committee concerning the party’s structure in Bayelsa State. According to the disclosure, the immediate past State Working Committee has been directed to continue functioning as members of the Caretaker Committee to oversee the ongoing membership e-registration exercise.

Explaining the decision, the governor stated that the arrangement was designed to ensure institutional continuity and stability within the party. “The National Executive Committee has approved that the immediate past State Working Committee should remain as members of the Caretaker Committee to guide the membership e-registration process currently underway in the state,” he told stakeholders.

During the meeting, PulseNets reported that party stakeholders moved a motion—unanimously supported—pledging the APC’s full backing for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The resolution commits the Bayelsa APC to mobilising support and delivering the president for a second term.

Declaring the outcome, the governor said, “The stakeholders have resolved, through a motion supported by all, to stand firmly behind our leader, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and work collectively to deliver him for a second term in 2027.”

He further urged party members to remain united and disciplined, stressing that the APC must sustain a peaceful political culture in Bayelsa State. “We must stay focused on our shared aspiration for a better Bayelsa, where politics of violence and intimidation has no place,” he added.

PulseNets learnt that the meeting ended on a solemn note, with stakeholders observing a minute of silence in honour of the late Senator J. K. Brambaifa, described as one of the party’s respected leaders in the state.
