Ekiti government reveals the cause of Speaker Afuye’s death
The death of Funminiyi Afuye, Speaker of the House of Assembly, has been announced by the Ekiti State Government.
On Wednesday, the 66-year-old politician passed suddenly. He represented Constituency 1 in Ikere.
Yinka Oyebode, the governor’s chief press secretary, released a statement on Wednesday night.
The state administration expressed sadness over Afuye’s passing, the official said.
“Rt. Hon Afuye died Wednesday evening at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado- Ekiti, where he was receiving treatment after suffering a cardiac arrest”, he said.
The deceased served in the State Legislature twice and was a former commissioner of information.
On June 6, 2019, Afuye took over as Speaker of the sixth Assembly.
