Ex-Rivers SSG Tammy Danagogo Seeks Rescheduling of Police Invitation Over Alleged Plot to Assassinate Wike

A Port Harcourt–based law firm, Danagogo, Oputa & Associates, has formally approached the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force to request a rescheduling of an invitation issued to its principal partner and former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Wenike Danagogo, in connection with an investigation into an alleged plot to assassinate the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

PulseNets learnt that the request was conveyed in a letter dated January 13, 2026, and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, Guzape District, Abuja. The law firm explained that Danagogo would be unable to honour the appearance scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026, as he was out of town at the time.

According to information obtained by PulseNets, the police invitation, bearing reference number CR: 3000/FID/IRT/ABJ/ADM/VOL. 9/57, was served on the firm on Monday evening at approximately 6:00pm.

In the letter, the firm stated:
“The attention of our Chief, Dr. T. W. Danagogo, has been drawn to your letter under reference after your service on us yesterday at about 18:00 hours, and upon reaching our Chief, we regret to inform you that he is out of town and may not be available at your slated Thursday, 15th January 2026 appointment.”

The firm subsequently appealed to the police authorities to move the appointment to a later date to enable its principal partner present himself for questioning.

“Consequently, we crave your kind indulgence to have the appointment re-scheduled for Monday, the 26th day of January 2026, for the interview,” the correspondence added.

PulseNets learnt that the letter was signed by Sir I. O. Nwodoh, Esq., an associate at Danagogo, Oputa & Associates.

The invitation is understood to be linked to an ongoing police investigation into a leaked phone conversation allegedly connected to a plot to assassinate the FCT minister. In a separate letter dated January 9, issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, Danagogo was directed to appear in person at the IRT complex in Guzape District, Abuja.

Documents obtained by PulseNets show that the letter instructed him to report by 10:00am on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the IRT facility near the Old Abattoir area, close to Guzape Junction, Abuja, and to present himself to CSP Hillary Ugwuanyi and his team.

The invitation letter stated:

“This office is inviting you over an ongoing investigation, to appear in person to shed light on some information.”

The police described the summons as a fact-finding exercise carried out “in the interest of justice and fairness,” citing Section 53(2)(c) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, as its legal basis.

Although the letter did not specifically mention Nyesom Wike or the alleged assassination plot, sources familiar with the investigation told PulseNets that the invitation is connected to a viral audio recording purportedly discussing a plan to eliminate the FCT minister, a long-standing political rival of Danagogo and a central figure in the Rivers State political crisis.

Danagogo is a known ally of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and previously served as Secretary to the State Government before relations between Fubara and Wike deteriorated.

PulseNets reported earlier that a Port Harcourt–based medical doctor and pastor, Dr. Tombari Joseph Gbeneol, had been arrested in connection with the alleged plot. Security sources disclosed that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police–led Intelligence Response Team apprehended Gbeneol, the founder of Life Forte Chapel Church, following the interception of a phone conversation allegedly involving him and Danagogo.

According to the sources, the recorded discussion allegedly revolved around plans to bring in Israeli nationals to carry out the assassination, with intentions to approach Governor Fubara for funding.

A senior security source told PulseNets:

“The content of the call was considered a grave national security threat. That was what triggered the immediate action by the IRT.”

PulseNets learnt that Dr. Gbeneol has remained in detention for about two weeks as investigations continue. Security sources further claimed that efforts were ongoing to secure Danagogo’s appearance, amid allegations that he had gone underground since the matter became public.
