“Forget 2027”: Wike Draws the Line as Rainbow Coalition Takes Over Rivers Politics

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that candidates backed by his Rainbow Coalition will secure all elective positions in Rivers State in the 2027 general elections.

The minister made the assertion on Wednesday during a “thank you” visit to Asari Toru Local Government Area, PulseNets learnt.

The Rainbow Coalition, operating under the Renewed Hope Family, was initiated by Wike to mobilise political support in Rivers State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term. The structure effectively collapsed party loyalties across the state into a single political movement aligned with the Tinubu-led Renewed Hope agenda.

Speaking during the visit, Wike emphasised that political actors in Rivers had moved beyond partisan divisions to pursue a shared interest under the Renewed Hope Family.

“After Tinubu, the Rainbow Coalition will produce every elective position in Rivers State in 2027,” the minister declared.
“So, if you don’t belong to this Rainbow Family, forget it.”

Wike, who highlighted what he described as the benefits Rivers people are already enjoying for backing Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, assured supporters that improved outcomes lay ahead.

According to him, “this year will be better than last year,” as a result of their political alignment and continued loyalty.

He thanked residents of Asari Toru for standing firm in their decision to support the President, stressing that their choice was already translating into tangible progress for the state. The minister also commended community leaders for what he described as their courage and loyalty during the 2023 elections, noting that the risks they took were now yielding positive dividends.

“Continue on this track and you will continue to reap good results. I assure you that I will stand with you at the appropriate time,” Wike told the gathering, as obtained by PulseNets.

Earlier, the Chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Area, Mr Onengiyeofori George, thanked the minister for his interventions and support to the council. He assured Wike that the people of the area were fully united under the Renewed Hope Family.

Similarly, Chief Michael West, who represents Asari Toru Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, commended Wike for galvanising widespread support for President Tinubu across the state.

Describing the minister as a “good leader,” West praised him for what he called a historic role in making an Ijaw man governor of Rivers State—the first since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule.

The lawmaker further pledged the continued loyalty of the people of Asari Toru, stressing that they would follow Wike’s political direction wherever it leads, PulseNets reported.
