Anyone, including the Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja chapter, who asserts that Governor Samuel Ortom is to blame for the current struggles of PDP National Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu is engaging in pure mischief.
It is no secret that Governor Ortom, along with other well-known Benue residents, put in a lot of effort to guarantee that Dr. Ayu was elected as the national chairman of our wonderful party over all odds. Therefore, he cannot go the other way and attempt to unseat him.
Prior to the National Convention, Governor Ortom received the support of numerous PDP leaders who trusted his judgment when he attested to Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s honesty and ability to lead and rebuild the PDP to victory and save Nigeria from the misrule of the APC maladministration. Because of this, Ayu was elected as the PDP’s national chairman at the party’s convention and was re-elected without opposition by the party’s Northern caucus.
Where was the Jemgbagh Development Association when Governor Ortom rallied the party’s leaders to support Dr. Ayu’s nomination as national chairman? Why do they wish to utilize a clannish position to extort the Governor given what they contributed to the project?
It is therefore absurd how this nebulous and emergency Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja, which has never been heard of before, is now posing as the spokesperson for Jemgbagh to launch a smear campaign against Governor Ortom, who has selflessly served the people of Benue State.
There is nothing to do with Governor Ortom conspiring against the national chairman in what is happening right now in our great party; rather, it is a beautiful example of how democracy has evolved.
To be clear, Governor Ortom is more Jemgbagh than the majority of those making the allegation right now. This is true because he has done more for Jemgbagh than even the Jemgbagh son who served as governor, both in terms of appointments and projects completed as well as patronage in the region. Additionally, Governor Ortom has continuously fought for the unity of Benue State and would never obstruct any of her compatriots, whether they live in the state or outside.
We implore those claiming to be the leaders of the Jemgbagh Development Association in Abuja to be truly developmental in their efforts to foster community cohesiveness and draw genuine development to their region rather than participating in sabotage or blackmail.
