Gov. Ortom urges political leaders to work together to save Nigeria

Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, has urged Nigerians to put national advancement ahead of narrow-minded concerns.

After receiving the state’s highest honour, the “Grand Service Star of Rivers State” GSSRS, Governor Ortom delivered the address on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He claimed that all that was necessary to save the nation at this specific point in its history, when it is facing difficulties on all fronts—economically, socially, politically, and in terms of security—was for the people to show their patriotism.

The Governor praised Governor Nyesom Wike and the people of Rivers State for their foresight in establishing the Award, which honoured individuals from all six geopolitical regions of the nation.

He claimed that this had proven how much Governor Wike and the residents of the State believed in the unity of Nigeria.

According to Governor Ortom, “If every other person in Nigeria will think like Governor Wike, the country will be great and will really take its position as the leader of Africa and the giant of Africa.”

Governor Ortom enjoined the people that as the nation prepare to participate in next year’s general elections, they should not “Look at political parties, nor look at ethnicity but how we can salvage our country Nigeria and make it greater than what it is today”.

The Governor urged the honorees to convey the message from the governor and the people of Rivers State to their respective states and regions so that the populace would understand the importance of cooperating for the progress and unification of the nation.
