Impeachment: Fubara Breaks Silence, Urges Rivers Residents to Remain Calm

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents of the state to remain calm as the Rivers State House of Assembly advances impeachment-related proceedings against him, PulseNets learnt.

The governor made the appeal on Sunday while addressing worshippers during a church service in Port Harcourt held to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. According to information obtained by PulseNets, the service brought together top government officials, clergy, and members of the public amid rising political tension in the state.

Governor Fubara reassured the congregation that the unfolding political situation would be resolved, urging citizens not to allow fear or misinformation to dictate their actions. He explained that his public silence since the impeachment moves began was deliberate, stressing that his calm posture was anchored in his faith and personal conviction.

Speaking further, the governor referenced remarks he made earlier at the New Year banquet held at the Government House, where he reflected on public criticism and political noise surrounding his administration. He reiterated that “dogs bark when they do not understand,” a statement he suggested underscored his decision to remain focused rather than reactive.

PulseNets reported that the governor’s message was received with visible calm among worshippers, many of whom described his tone as reassuring and measured given the political climate in Rivers State.

Also addressing the congregation, the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, urged residents to act responsibly and avoid conduct capable of escalating tensions. She aligned her remarks with the sermon delivered by the Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Blessing Eyinda, who cautioned that actions taken today would inevitably be remembered in the future.

Professor Odu further appealed to the public to sustain prayers for the Fubara-led administration, describing such spiritual support as essential at a time of political uncertainty. She told PulseNets that continued prayers from the people remained a critical source of strength for the government as it navigates current challenges.
