INEC Uploads New NDC Logo, Updates Party Leadership Following Court Order

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has uploaded the new logo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, on its official website, alongside an update to the party’s leadership details.

The commission now lists Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as the National Chairman of the NDC, while Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu is recognised as the party’s National Secretary.

John Odey is listed as National Treasurer, with Mainasara Abubakar Sani named as National Financial Secretary. Reuben Egwuaba is also listed as the party’s National Legal Adviser.

INEC indicated that the five leadership positions were updated ‘by court order’, signalling that the commission’s recognition of the NDC’s new party logo and leadership structure followed a judicial directive.

The development followed a judgment delivered by Justice J. O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in a suit involving the NDC and INEC.

The case, filed as suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1814/2026, was centred on the NDC’s request for INEC to recognise and upload its modified logo and colour design.

The party had challenged INEC’s refusal to recognise and publish the logo adopted by the NDC following its first National Executive Committee meeting.

Justice Abdulmalik, in the judgment delivered on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, ruled in favour of the political party.

The court held that INEC’s refusal to recognise the modified NDC logo was unconstitutional and illegal, describing the action as an infringement of the rights of the political party.
