Breaking: Judge Orders Naira Marley to Be Produced in Court over Charges

Court adjourns Naira Marley’s cybercrime trial

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that a reproduction warrant be issued for Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, to appear in court on the next adjourned day.

PulseNets reports that Naira Marley is standing trial on cybercrime-related charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He is accused of conspiring to use a stolen credit card and possessing a counterfeit credit card.

On Friday, when the case was mentioned, Naira Marley was not in court. His lawyer, Olalekan Ojo SAN, informed the court that his client was in police custody after voluntarily surrendering himself for interrogation concerning the death of another hip-hop artist, Ifeoluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Ojo urged the court to issue a reproduction warrant for Naira Marley to be produced in court on the next adjourned day.

The EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, did not oppose the request. She confirmed that Naira Marley was in police custody and that efforts were being made to ensure his attendance at the next court sitting.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo adjourned the case till October 30, 2023, and ordered that a reproduction warrant be issued for Naira Marley to be produced in court on that day if he is still in police custody.
