Labour Party Tells Members to Shun Obi’s ADC Endorsement, Blasts His Desperation to Be President
Abuja – The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has called on members of the party nationwide to disregard the directives of former presidential candidate Peter Obi regarding the August 16 by-elections.
In a statement personally signed by the factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, and obtained by PulseNets, the party maintained that it remains fully on the ballot for the by-elections across some states, insisting that Nigerians have now “come to know who Peter Obi really is.”
PulseNets recalls that Obi had earlier urged his supporters to back candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) instead of the Labour Party during the forthcoming polls.
Abure described Obi’s directive as “misleading, mischievous and delusional,” urging faithful party members to ignore what he called a “malicious directive” and proceed to vote for the LP and its candidates.
“The attention of the leadership of the Labour Party has been drawn to a statement by the party’s former presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi. Don’t listen to him.
Nigerians have come to know who Peter Obi really is,” Abure said.
The LP factional chairman went further to accuse Obi of being “too desperate” to lead Nigeria, alleging that the former Anambra State governor had created the crisis currently rocking the party.
“This is why we have maintained that Peter Obi lacks the competence, character and capacity to actualise the vision of a new Nigeria.
Nigerians should not forget in a hurry that it was Peter Obi that created the crisis in the Labour Party which he is now citing as a reason why people should not vote for the party,” Abure stated.

According to him, Obi had enjoyed “so much goodwill” from the LP leadership but repaid them “with evil,” adding that the party will continue to focus on its candidates and electoral strategies ahead of the by-elections.
