Barcelona striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, on Sunday evening made history after scoring a brace in his side’s LaLiga 4-1 victory against Valencia.
Barcelona defeated Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, thanks to two goals from Aubameyang and a strike each from Frenkie de Jong and Pedri.
Aubameyang’s brace against Valencia means the Gabon captain is now the second Barcelona player to score a brace in his first LaLiga start in the 21st century, according to OptaJose.
The first player to achieve that record before Aubameyang is Francisco Trincão, who scored a brace against Alavés in February 2021.
Recall that the match eventually ended 5-1 in favour of Barcelona against Alavés at Camp Nou.
Aubameyang will now hope to lead Barcelona to victory when they face Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday.
The 32-year-old joined Barcelona from Arsenal last January transfer window after the Gunners terminated his contract.
