Lulu-Briggs withdraws suit against Fubara in Supreme Court

The Rivers State Governorship candidate of the Accord in the 2023 general elections, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Lulu-Briggs in his 2024 New Year message to Rivers people, said the gesture was his contribution to reducing tension in an overheated Rivers polity, saying it is a token of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.

In the message signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Nia’bari Fakae, Lulu-Briggs reads:

The 2023 Rivers State governorship candidate of Accord, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs has withdrawn his appeal at the Supreme Court against the outcome of the governorship election. This information was contained in Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs’ 2024 New Year message to Rivers people.
The Kalabari High Chief said that the gesture was his contribution at reducing tension in an overheated Rivers polity, saying that it is a token of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs lamented that 2023 was a very difficult year for many Rivers people during which their livelihoods and security were compromised. He said the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State if not halted, would further worsen the lot of the people. He however commended Rivers people for standing resolute against undemocratic and unconstitutional tendencies.

While wishing Rivers people a happy new year, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs said 2024 provides an opportunity for Rivers people to stop and ponder. He called on the warring groups to sheath their swords and imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love and reconciliation.
