Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of Borno State, met with former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday in a private setting.
As soon as Modu Sheriff arrived to Obasanjo’s penthouse apartment at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, they began talking.
Modu Sheriff declined to give journalists any information on his conversations with the former president.
The former governor of Borno informed Obasanjo that his visit was personal.
He called Balogun Owu the “Chairman and Chief Executive of Nigeria,” adding that other politicians would continue to profit from his abundance of public administration expertise.
He emphasized the need of young politicians learning from Obasanjo’s expertise and experience.
“It is strictly a private visit; you know Baba (Obasanjo) is an elder statesman,” Modu Sheriff added. Baba is the chairman and chief executive officer of Nigeria, if Nigeria is a firm. I therefore came for advice and spoke privately with Baba.
“Baba is the Chairman if Nigeria is a corporation. Being the younger, I occasionally have to see my father, have a private conversation with him, and then go.
The former governor responded, “I didn’t mention anything, it’s a private visit,” when asked whether his conversation with Baba was about the Nigeria project.
When questioned about his opinions on the elections in 2023, Modu-Sheriff responded, “Your opinion is my opinion, what is your opinion? What do I think? I hope my party prevails.
Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman Sheriff is currently a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
