Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) member in Katsina State, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, which is the main opposition.
After conferring with hundreds of his fans and groups that sang songs of solidarity about his competence and ability to influence the politics of the State, Inuwa announced his choice on Sunday at his campaign office in Katsina.
The APC party stalwart served as the Katsina State Government’s (SSG) former Secretary under outgoing Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
When he ran for governor of Katsina State on the APC platform, he was defeated by Dr. Dikko Umar Radda.
According to reports, Inuwa endorsed Radda shortly after the governorship primary elections.
When things abruptly broke down, supporters of the two camps started levelling allegations.
In addition to the State PDP and NNPP leaderships, reports claim that Senators Kashim Shetima and Datti Baba Ahmed, the vice presidential candidates for the APC and Labour Party, respectively, visited Dr. Inuwa.
Inuwa claimed that after realising that he and his supporters were irrelevant within the APC, he ultimately made the decision to return to the PDP, his former party, which he had deserted just before the 2015 election in favour of the then-opposition APC.
