Nnamdi Kanu has filed an appeal against the IPOB’s proscription

Federal High Court rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s bail request, denies transfer to Kuje prison

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, will appear before the Abuja Appeal Court today regarding the group’s proscription.

Kanu would seek to be added as a party to the appeal against IPOB’s exclusion.

According to PulseNets, Kanu will file the appeal through his legal team, which will be led by Special Counsel Aloy Ejimakor.

“Today, I will lead a team of lawyers to the Court of Appeal, Abuja to make a case for #MNK to be joined as a named party in the appeal against the proscription of IPOB. Ejimakor told our correspondent.

“I will also be in tag-team with SAN Machukwu-Ume who is leading in the mother case against the proscription.”

Remember how the Nigerian government prescribed IPOB?

The separatist group was banned for advocating for Biafra and, by implication, the breakup of Nigeria.

In order to put an end to the Biafra agitation, the Federal High Court in Abuja designated IPOB as a terrorist organisation in 2017.

Following an application filed and advanced by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the then-acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdul Adamu Kafarati, granted the order prohibiting IPOB (SAN).
