The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved a budget for the year 2023 of N310,432,500,000.00 (three hundred and ten billion, four hundred and thirty-two million, five hundred thousand).
The budget was approved by the parliamentarians on Thursday in Ibadan, according to PulseNets.
The Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, presided over the plenary.
On November 3, 2022, Governor Seyi Makinde sent the legislature a draught of the 2023 budget.
After hearing the findings from the Akeem Mustapha-led House Committee on Public Accounts, Finance, and Appropriations, the parliamentarians passed the budget.
Shortly after the passing, Ogundoyin addressed and praised his colleagues for diligently studying and working on the budget plan.
He defined the efforts as a group sacrifice intended to make the upcoming fiscal year better than the previous one.
Ogundoyin said, “We worked round the clock, especially during the budget defence exercise held between the 16th November and 5th December, 2022 for Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Oyo State Government.
“Without the commitment of the management and staff of the Assembly, not much would have been achieved. We appreciate everyone’s contribution no matter how small.
“This has helped in no small measure in the successes recorded by the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly in 2022”.
