President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed former President Goodluck Jonathan to a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

This newspaper reports that Jonathan visited the Aso Rock Villa to provide Tinubu with updates on important political developments in West Africa and other regions of the continent.
Dr. Jonathan is the Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Mali.
During his time at the State House in Abuja, the former Nigerian leader conveyed the outcomes of his discussions with fellow members of the West African Elders’ Forum, an organisation he chairs.
“I came here to inform the President about the activities of several continental and sub-continental bodies. As the ECOWAS Mediator for Mali and the Chairman of the West African Elders’ Forum, I engage in discussions with various presidents regarding critical issues concerning the continent and the sub-region,” Jonathan explained.

It should be noted that members of security forces in Mali, a West African country that witnessed conflicts, exercised their voting rights on June 11 in preparation for the upcoming constitution referendum scheduled for June 18.
This referendum marks a significant step toward the planned elections in February 2024.
