Prince Harry and Meghan Markle provide aid to flood victims in Nigeria

The Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Foundation has given an undisclosed sum to Nigerian charity to “help provide relief following devastating floods” that has wreaked havoc in several areas of the country.

After doing a genealogy test a few years ago, Duchess Sussex, 41, learned she is 43 percent Nigerian. She stated this on the most recent episode of her Tuesday-released Archetypes Podcast series.

A Spotify spokeswoman confirmed that the couple’s Archewell Foundation contributed to Save the Children and UNICEF in a press release that preceded the show.

Heavy rains and water released from a dam in neighbouring Cameroon are to blame for the deadly floods.

The floods in Nigeria that ruined 440,000 hectares of crops have resulted in more than 600 fatalities and 1.4 million displaced people.

“More than 1.5 million children are at risk after devastating flooding in Nigeria”, Save the Children Nigeria tweeted.

“Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation has donated to Save the Children in Nigeria as our teams deliver life-saving supplies to affected families.”
